Built in 1801, the house has a rich history. Mahlon Janney (1731-1812), son of Waterford’s founder Amos Janney, commissioned Edward Dorsey to construct this residence on “the Big Hill” of Main Street. Originally facing Main Street, the house was Janney's home until his death. In 1818, Charles G.
